10/11 - 10/20> Comprehension Skill: Character Traits and Motives
Students are identifying actions and words from characters in a story. They are then identifying what the character hopes to gain or avoid through those actions or words. Finally they identify a trait that fits those actions and motives.

Conflict
A two part sentence that describes what the main character wants and what is keeping them from it.
Plot Events
There should be three plot events. Each events should cover a major event in the story that either, leads to the conflict, presents the conflict or resolves it.
Resolution
This should show in which way the conflict was resolves and that it means to the bigger picture.

To adequately predict outcomes we need:
Knowledge from the story
This should be facts from the story that give us clues as to what a character is feeling, doing or motivated by
Knowledge from our own experiences
This should be an some experience that is similar or related to the clues we learned about what the character is feeling, doing or motivated by
Predictions about the story
Based on what we know about the character from the story and what we know about similar situations in our own experience we can then make a prediction that is backed up by some evidence. This will help us to make more reasoned and successful predictions.
